Explaining the Barchester design philosophy, Interior Designer, Sally Worlock says: "The feeling I like to give is that you walk in the door and the first thing you think is `this looks comfortable; I could go to sleep on the sofa.' Choosing a care home is a huge decision for someone to make, normally on their parents' behalf, and it's a very emotional thing. The care is obviously the most important thing, but people have got to feel they want to come into the home.’

THE DINING EXPERIENCE AT BARCHESTER HEALTHCARE

As with any home, dining at a Barchester care home is a delightful, social experience to look forward to and be enjoyed by all. Our teams of experienced Chefs prepare menus which comprise of fresh and seasonal foods which are nutritious and tasty. The dishes we prepare reflect and include the likes and requests of our residents.
Our focus is to provide a balanced nutritious diet using fresh, quality ingredients. Our homes provide residents with a choice of homemade dishes and freshly baked goods.
Residents can choose to savour their meal in the dinning room or, if they prefer, in the comfort of their own room.

5 STAR DINING

Many Barchester homes offer their residents a 5 star dining experience. The dining room has a warm and welcoming atmosphere with fully laid tables with flowers and menus displayed.
All meals are attractively presented and served by staff, who are able to answer questions about the dishes served.

ONGOING TRAINING

To maintain high standards of food production and presentation, Barchester has an ongoing programme of Chef training. For the development of second Chefs and kitchen assistants, we provide access to our in-house NVQ Level 2 training programme in Food Preparation and Cooking. More experienced Chefs may attend the Barchester Master-chef programme which focuses on developing skills in specific areas such as bakery, confectionary and larder work. It also covers the preparation and cooking of fresh fish, speciality work in chocolate and a master class with Paul Rankin, the Michelin award-winning chef, on the preparation and production of fresh foods.

In line with Barchester Healthcare’s reputation as the number one provider of high quality, award winning care, we are striving to achieve the same high standards in hospitality by gaining the Hospitality Assured accreditation company-wide.
The standard has been endorsed by the British Quality Foundation and Quality Scotland Foundation as meeting the criteria in the EFQM Business Excellence Model.
