Barchester in Bloom 2006 – the winners are announced
Gardens play a big part in the lives of Barchester’s residents, in terms of aesthetic and therapeutic value and are a valuable aid to enhance the general quality of life of the 10,000 people who live in Barchester care homes and communities across the UK.
Barchester in Bloom is our annual gardening competition. It was launched in June this year by Charlie Dimmock and it gives the gardeners, staff and residents of our homes the opportunity to showcase their gardening skills across a number of categories. Hundreds of staff, residents and relatives have taken part in the competition.
Mike Parsons, managing director of Barchester Healthcare was joined by celebrity gardener Charlie Dimmock at Hampton Court Palace on Monday 25th September to formally reveal this years winning gardens and to present the prizes to the winning gardeners.
Charlie Dimmock presents the prized Garden of the Year award to Michael Heartwell, Gardener and Glynis Sheaby, Home Administrator at Cubbington Mill Care Home, near Leamington Spa.
Charlie Dimmock commented on the awards, “I am always so impressed by the enthusiasm of the gardeners in the Barchester homes. Gardens create such a wonderful environment in which residents can relax and enjoy life. Well done to all the winners!”
