Using Our Search Feature

Natural Language Search Operators

You can use the special search operators and, or, and not when searching. Without these operators our search engine will assume you're and'ing the words together. Search terms and the special operators are not case sensitive so the following four searches will all return the same results :

care homes
homes care
homes and Care
care AND homes

The not operator will find articles without a specified search term. So the following search will find all articles without the term 'winchester' :

not winchester

The or operator will find articles that include either of two or more search terms. So the following search will find all articles containing either the words "health" or "fitness" :

health or fitness

These natural language operators can be combined so that the following search will find all articles containing either of the terms "health" or "fitness", but not the word "mental"

health or fitness not mental

Note : To search for the actual words and, or and not, place them in a double quotes:

"not"

Search Wildcard

The search wildcard character * means "match zero or more characters." and may be used at the end of a word to broaden your search.

For example the following search will only retrieve articles which contain the given word:

depression

However, the following search will find all articles containing "depressing", "depressive", "depressed", etc. along with "depression":

depress*
